You asked what we thought of the new design and structure. It really does look nice. That cover is every bit as wonderful and professional as any publication one might see in any newstand and the pages and the designs of them are equally impressive. I printed mine out to read tomorrow and Thayne remarked at how nice it looked.

It's BEAUTIFUL. Stef, you've outdone yourself. Just glanced through it and the design is snappy and easy on the eyes. I'm looking forward to spending the day tomorrow reading the articles.

Mark's photos are spectacular. A whole new way of seeing the Fall River sites.

mark's exhibit is great. the details in the snow at the graves, the reflective quality of the snow. and there's something about the one on the street with the digital temp. in the upper right hand corner.

haven't really read yet.

oddly enough, i just finished re-reading every former issue -- when i got around to organizing them all in a notebook.

i think the cover was a great idea--unexpected and beautiful.

I was just able to print off my copy of The Hatchet ! This isuue is WAY cool ! Mark's photo essay is beautiful ! Tina-Kate's article on Miss O'Neil is wonderful. Reading Kat's story on the trip to Fall River brought back many memories of my trips ! I thought the picture of the 'gang' was great ! I may have to rent From Hell...I don't know much about the Jack the Ripper case. I liked Eugene's article on Lizzie Borden Had an Axe...a good perspective. Liddy's article on women and their weapons was eye-opening. I didn't know so many modern-day folk had taken our Lizzie's name as their own. Dear Abby is always a riot ! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR PUTTING TOGETHER ANOOTHER GREAT ISSUE OF THE HATCHET !!

Just finished reading the entire issue of the latest Hatchet and can honestly say I enjoyed EVERY article. Kudos to the writers and to Mark's outstanding pictorial tour of a snow covered Fall River.

Kat's article naturally attracted my attention since it involved me personally. It's marvelous how she can remember so much detail and in the correct order. Needless to say it brought back fond memories of a very enjoyable trip. To tour the Borden sites with the Kooreys was a delightful and educational experience.

Again, kudos to all who contributed!.

Happy Birthday to the Hatchet! The new layout works beautifully, Stef -- and this issue is a wonderful way to celebrate the anniversary.

Mark's photos are superb! Kat's tour of Lizzie landmarks was so intimate and immediate it was like being in the car with her and the rest of the crew. I really enjoyed Eugene's excellent perspective on the Discovery Channel documentary -- and learned a lot from Mary, Denise, and Tina-Kate's well-written (as always!) articles.

Sherry -- please don't ever stop channeling Abby!

Thank you to everyone!!!!

I just downloaded my copy; there appear to be some interesting articles, as usual, and some great photos! I'm looking forward to reading the magazine through. Congratulations to everyone involved in producing the first year's issues and now the beginning of the second year of The Hatchet.

Nancie,

I am sure if you contact Stef privately about any problems you are having she will work with you to get things corrected. It would be a shame for you to have to miss out on something this good.

Yes, Stef is very good at solving computer difficulties.
A friend of a friend had a problem downloading (it happens) and told my friend but not me directly or Stef directly and when I did tell Stef she contacted the person herself and figured out a way which was mutually agreeable.
She is very serious about this- she is a professional.

Please anyone who has a difficulty contact Stef directly.

I can vouch for Stef's ability to help navigate you around download problems. With my old Mac, she's a godsend!

Loved Mark's pictures. Thanks Kat for taking us around Fall River; that was mesmerizing.

Thanks for all your kind comments on the photos. I think that the contributions of a host of great writers and a few knoweldgable editors who know how to lay a magizine out are what make the Hatchet get better with each new issue that is released. I really look foward to reading the latest issue and am glad I re-subscribed.

Wow!

I finally had a chance to read it clear through! It was a wonderful issue!

Mary's article was very good-- I made notes and plan to do some more reading about that case--it seems fascinating.

Eugene's review of the program was dead on..... (pun inteded)

Tina K's Nance article was tres manifique!

Kat's article was as wonderful as I knew it would be, and of course she "enchanted" me with the use of the word and also her seating suggestion in a restaurant... Of course I feel a kinship with any lady who seats herself for the "view"....

Mark... O LA LA! You look just like a delicious member of the French soccer team I bewitched when I was a teenager... He gave me my first cigarette and mixed drink... Are you that naughty?? (If so-- come sit by me!)

Oh.. your pictures were good too.....

Scandalous!

My compliments to everyone! Mark's pix are smashing; I love the shock of colored flowers against the snow in the graveyard. TK's background on Nance is wonderful. No wonder she so fascinated Lizzie. She seems to have enjoyed all the journeys and adventures (going, seeing, and doing) that Lizzie longed for! Love the Houdini fake photo--I printed up a copy for my daughter, the Houdini fan. I'm still reading, but the issues continue to embellish our picture of the case and the town, past and present. I look forward to reading the rest.

The late Bob Gutowski here! I've just gotten around to printing out the newest HATCHET, and thanks to some of the computer mishegoss here, I was actually able to print it all out here at my own office instead of having to have my hubs do it! Woo-hoo! Can't wait for lunch so I can jump in!

********

What a splendid issue! Easily the best looking one yet! If this edition was rather short on whimsy (excepting the ever-welcome Sherry), it was full of solid, well-written pieces. I especially enjoyed learning more about Nance, Mark's picture essay, and Kat's account of the Great Fall River Trek. Eugene was right on the money on that last documentary; as I've written, I myself thought the thing went in more directions than Lizzie's Inquest testimony. I know of Constance Kent from the British fright classic DEAD OF NIGHT, in which her victim appears as a ghost, but to get the facts on a famous murder is always exciting. Lastly, I enjoyed the intriguing poems by "ee. mikee"...and that hot photo of Harry (Erich Weiss) Houdini! I think I can make out where's he hidden his escape kit!
