What price for a blue Bedford cord?

Post by Harry »

Cetainly not the $285,000 which was paid for the dress Judy Garland wore in the "Wizard of Oz".

Wow, thats alot of dough! I wonder how many dresses were made for Judy Garland to wear while filming the Wizard of Oz? I recall reading that one of the many original pairs of ruby slippers was sold to a guy in California for $666,000.00 in 2000. Kinda makes you wonder if Lizzie's Bedford cord wasn't destroyed and was still around what it might be worth.

I saw that item on TV and I think they said there were 7 dresses. They said that was the highest amount paid for a movie costume.
Our local news commentator remarked that she thought the dress would have been "brighter." (I guess more colorful).

Wow, I just saw a picture of the dress on another site, it looks positively gray!!!

I wonder if the dress faded over time (kinda' like the Bedford cord?) or if the Technicolor process made the dress look brighter in the movie than it ever was?
