If I had something to give away as a prize, I would- but I don't.

What is this place- can you guess?

It looks like a couple of nationally known Lizzie Borden experts at the Balancing Rock in Fall River, but I could be wrong.
I've met Kat and Harry and Stef, oh my!
(And Diana, Richard, nbcatlover, Doug Parkhurst and Marilou, Shelley, "Cemetery" Jeff, Nadzieja, kfactor, Barbara, JoAnne, Michael, Katrina and my 255 character limit is up.)

This is very interesting. How did it get to be there and how long has it been there? I am going to have to do some research.

That's right off Eastern Avenue, where I grew up, if I'm not mistaken. I always wondered how that rock got there too. Hmmm.

Hi Phill,
Haven't said my welcome yet but it seems we grew up in the same end of the city. My early days spent near New Boston Road. Were you that direction or towards the Flint?
Rolling Rock was always special to the kids.

The Rolling Rock did roll off it's pedestal once hence the name, Rolling Rock. I'm not sure when or how the got it back up there but I can remember hearing that story many times as a kid.

Rolling Rock, Balancing Rock. . . what's the difference. I got the part right about it being a rock. . .

One can go to The Keeley Library online at the link provided,

http://www.sailsinc.org/durfee/fulltext.htm

Then go down to The Phillips History of Fall River and click on the Fascicle III Index for all 3 volumes.
Then look for Rolling Rock.
Get the volume # and page # and scroll up to the page and click on that chapter.
That's how you can find Rolling Rock, in Fall River.
(The great thing about the Phillips book is he gives permission in the front to use anything from his book as long as it is cited as source).

Thanks for the color pictures and post cards you guys!

Thanks for the pictures. I haven't gone to some of these sites since I was a little kid...I'd almost forgotten some of them.

With the demise of the Old Man of the Mountains (NH), we should be more appreciative. We forget even rocks wear away.

I'm hoping people will learn how to use these neat resources.
Here's a hint:
If there is an INDEX to an online book, try that first.
Saves time.
