Member John

Post by Adminlizzieborden »

I want to apologize to the members here for John's behavior. It is inappropriate for him (or anyone) to flame and crosspost and treat the people here with any degree of disrespect. My actions in this matter, which I wanted you to know about, were carried out after last evening's round of flaming posts.

John has been given a three day suspension for violating the rules of this forum and not replying to my emails regarding his actions. When he returns he is supposed to adjust his posting behavior or he will be permanently banned from posting and viewing the forum. It is my hope that this time out will give him the nudge he needs to adjust his attitude so he can once again play well with others.

Update: John has been permanently banned from posting on this forum. He can, however, see the forum and read the threads in the public areas. Any further aggressive behavior will necessitate him being banned from viewing the forum.

One reason to ban a member instead of deleting them is that it preserves their posting history. If a member is deleted, all their posts disappear and it is as if they never existed. John has had quite a lot of interesting things to say and it would be a shame to erase them.

It is my hope that we can all learn from this experience in some way. Please reread the rules and policies of this forum if you have any questions regarding what you can say or not say. In my opinion, all the rules about posting behavior can be summarized thusly: Don't post anything you wouldn't say to your grandmother. You own your words and people judge you by them. If you think you are being misunderstood or have said something that is being interpreted in a manner that you did not intend, it is your responsibility to speak up and set your record straight. This does not mean you have to assume a defensive posture when posting, assuming that those who don't get your meaning are doing so on purpose. Please assume that you are the one who is being unclear and try to help others understand you. If you do the opposite, and assume that others are being mean for the sake of being mean, you will find yourself engaged in an argument, not over the facts at hand, but over personalities.

If, however, any of you feel threatened, harassed, badgered, or personally attacked by another member here, either in public or in a private message sent by a member, please contact me immediately so I can investigate and fix the issue as soon as it rears its ugly head. Nipping actions like these in the bud is the only way to make it all work for all of us.

Thank you.

I felt like taking one myself, Cynthia. He posted some real good stuff but for some reason he turned rank. When he took a pot shot at one of us he was taking a pot shot at all of us. Reading some of his comments was like getting hit in the face with a wet cat. Maybe he will find another web site that would welcome his attitude, perhaps one for the 12 and under age group. It's too bad. I hope he learns something from this and straightens up.

I sent him a PM saying he was ruining the forum, and he bragged he had ruined other forums, too.

Such an accomplishment!

I hope if he choses to come back, he learns to listen and respect other people's points of view. We don't all share the same opinions and without evidence, one is just as good as another. No one has the right to say their opinion dominates all others.

I wouldn't hold your breath Cynthia. If he has been bragging about the wreck and ruin of other forums, he is not about to change his stripes.

Thank You Stefani for holding this forum to a higher standard. I didn't come here to feel uneasy. I came here to gather with like minded people regarding the Borden murders, and perhaps pick a friend or two along the way.

Was he the guy who claimed to have a secret solution that he would sell for $15,000? THAT should have been the tip-off.
I am not a lawyer, but I think this attempted fraud could have been reported to the FBI (interstate jurisdiction). Anyone who tried to pull this must have other faults, the local police would be interested in him.

Well he would never get any of my money that's for sure..., no wait, where's my wallet!?

Whoever it was was probably spoofing us, playing with our brain, all in good fun. Of course if you really want to know the solution to this crime just send that $15,000.00 to me at...

On the other hand there are a lot of scams out there and it is surprising how many people fall for them. My friend's autograph shows up regularly on ebay and many of them are forgeries but people buy them not knowing. It's amazing what people will pay money for. Remember that cheese sandwich with Mary's picture on it? If people will buy that they'll buy anything.

Excuse me I've got to get to the store for some bread and cheese...

Oh RayS...I'll bet that in "real life" you are not as crusty and tough as you like to come across here in the forum. I'll bet you are really a kind and giving person. You just don't want us to know how sweet you are ! I am starting to see through that tough exterior of yours. I think you are really just a teddy bear at heart !

The above seems to have been create to insult me. I find it annoying.
I ask that the above poster be suspended for a week.

I don't mind objections to the facts discovered by Arnold Brown in his book. But how can anyone create insults when they never met me. (And never will if I can help it.)

I do find myself becoming sort of an old cranky geezer, but that's old age. I do not intend to become the local version of Andy Rooney.

RayS

I would venture to say that it was not Steve’s intention to insult you. I saw it as a light hearted comment, with hopes of a light hearted return.

My hope is that you don’t take friendly bantering as a slight on your views towards the Borden murder case. I for one look forward to what you have to say.

Hey RayS... We were only teasing you... We do a lot of that around here to those we like! We may not all agree with your assesment of Arnold's book but nobody is out to get you or insult you. Not yet anyway...

Suspended for a whole week? You mean like go into a corner with a dunce cap on my head? With no graham crackers and milk? Oh my!

You don't want to be another "Andy Rooney?" Why not, he's rich! Crotchety maybe, but rich! I think the best cure for a bad case of the crotcheties, and we all get them sooner or later, is a light hearted approach to life. Just stand back, look ourselves in the mirror :peanut14: and laugh! :peanut19:

RayS...I was not teasing.. I meant it when I said tht I think you are probably a very nice person who just puts on a tough demeanor when you post due to your passion for your belief. I agree that joking around is very good for keeping things light now and then. I am sure we all say things that wrangle people now and then, but that doesn't mean that over an unintentional misunderstanding, that someone should be tossed. IMO, john's comments were made to intentionally cause distress and upheaval, again, that's my opinion. I like the idea previously mentioned about contacting somene who gets your panties in a wad over an tissue. The PM feature allows us to do so easily, and privately.
