"It will interest both sexes to hear then Bridget Sullivan, as she visits her friends in the kitchens on the hill, is fond of saying that she scarecly knew Lizzie Borden when she saw her in court the first day, she has grown so fat. Evidently, as the district attorney would say, prison fare is better than the routine of mutton, cold soup, cookies and green peas she used to get in her cheerless home in Fall River."
Green PEAS? Where in the world did they get that from?
Yes, green peas indeed! From what we know of what the Bordens ate, it doesn't sound as though there was one healthy, leafy green vegetable in sight, let alone green peas! Skip the mutton and have a nice Spinach salad instead.
Prof. Dr. Wood likened a piece of meat found in Abby's stomach to the size of a pea. Maybe that's where the peas came from?
"Some of the pieces of meat were quite sizable pieces, as large for instance a whole pea, and one or two pieces were larger than that,---as large as the end of my forefinger, so that their nature was very readily determined."T992
It sounds like Abby didn't chew her food very well.
I wonder from where all the oil came?
