Happy Birthday to my fellow Canadian! Re Guy Fawkes Day (Kat, I'm always amazed @ yr knowledge of England!) "The Burning of the Guy" is no longer the popular tradition over there that it used to be. It's largely been usurped by the North American tradition of Halloween.

Happy birthday, Diana, and many happy returns of the day!

Does anyone remember this nursery rhyme?

Please to remember the fifth of November,
Gunpowder treason and plot.
I can think of no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

Thanks Lyddie --

I do remember the rhyme ... and because my whole family was from the British Isles, much was made of the fact that my birthday fell on Guy Fawkes Day.

As I recall it was a little bruising to my childhood ego when so few of my schoolmates thought this was a big deal .. or even knew who Guy Fawkes was.
