Post by Richard »

The voice over actor who is famous for his "In A World" movie trailers, has passed away.

He has over 5,000 movie trailer voice overs to his credit.

Sorry to hear that. I'm an avid moviegoer and have heard many of his trailers.

When I saw the news article & heard his voice, I thought of the Geico commerical first. I know I've heard him in the movie trailers but you get to actually see him in the commerical.

Too bad he is gone. A voice like his doesn't come along very often. The report I saw didn't give his age. I could listen to him talk all day!

Here's a funny trailer that makes fun of movie trailers and scattered throughout is Don LaFontaine making fun of himself.

I had the opportunity to meet Don LaFontaine once about 8 years ago. I was visiting a friend in Colorado who works in the movie industry and LaFontaine was at a party we attended. It was strange to hear the movie trailer voice coming from a real human! We only exchanged pleasantries but he seemed like a really nice man. Theaters just won't be the same without him.
