Couldn't agree more with you, William. When people wish me a Happy Holiday I've begun to ask them what holiday is that.

Several years ago in Toronto, the city decided to officially rename all the Christmas trees in public spaces, "Holiday Trees".
Egads.
As if anyone should find it offensive...
I'm all for everyone's religious freedom, but should we, for example, expect Jewish people to rename their Hanukkah Menorahs "holiday candle holders" lest it offend anyone?

Yes, that's funny Tina, and so true.
We just had that discussion at the coffee shop yesterday. I have this friend who loves Christmas, but does not believe in God.
I told him/her that they had no business celebrating it if they are not religious, that the entire celebration has its roots in religion.
I further argued that being a non believer they, along with a great portion of society, have hijacked and expropriated the season and tried, very successfully so, to make it their own.
It reminds me of my friend Tom. He had two boys. When it was one boy's birthday he had to purchase gifts for both, since the other would start to crying.
It is these very people, the ones without the birthday, who usually cry bloody murder in such issues.
But then again, its all about the money now..

Christmas is a tradition, not a religious holiday to me. It means family and giving and food. It means parties with friends, and reconnecting with old friends. It means smiling more and being nicer to people. It means being "in the spirit."
I think people without religion can enjoy Christmas as well. Just like people without religion can be moral and ethical. We have evolved past the reason for the season to the new meaning: peace on earth and good will toward all men.
This way we can all feel the hope that is Christmas. Even if God is not in your belief system.

Yes, Christmas can be anything you want it to be. The Holiday now belongs to the ages, it has come to be everything anyone wants it to be.
Very similar to this country.
Once it belong to the American Indian. Now it is ours. It's what we do. Take it from you and plant our own flag.
Thus, if you are not religious your only claim to the season is to take it away, away for yourself and make it what you want it to be.
Very similar to what Castro did in Cuba.
Kicked out the Capitalists who were exploiting the poor and made it his own.
Now let us all go and have a Cuban Indian Christmas......

Remember how after 9-11 everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, was nice to each other. It lasted about a month.
Christmas is an attitude. You can have it all year long or just plug in during the last part of the year.
You can be commercial or crazy gift giver, or you can bake your presents, or give nothing.

Yes, I am not disputing that you are or are not allowed to use Christmas for your own means..........just that you must agree that you have hijacked it and use it as a drug, an injection, an aphrodisiac for your happiness. And like a drug you fee good. But, it's not real and wears off in short order.

What in the world is a "soup Nazi"? I have said Merry Christmas since I could talk & I'm going to continue to say it. In the newspaper yesterday I can't believe what happened in my hometown. There was a picture of an officer holding up a statue of the Virgin Mary. It seems that was the only statue left after theives stole the other statues which I'm sure included the sheep. These are the same statues that they used since I was a kid, they were beautiful, and now gone. I remember the merchants downtown would put shadowboxes lining the street in front of the town hall with the manger as a huge display. it was gorgeous, and nothing was ever vandalized. In the article it said someone had called the police because a small group of kids had the Virgin Mary in a headlock. Have people gone nuts???? We have become so politically correct in our speech that nobody will stand up and say "This is wrong, what is the matter with you?" Even at work, they have now changed giving out a "warning" with
"go talk to HR, for a counseling session". Come on, give me a break. It seems that now you can do anything and nobody can call it for what it really is. Sometimes I feel like looking at these people & saying "What are you stupid?"

If I am not mistaken the comedy show "Seinfeld" is one of Stefani's favorite shows. Not sure, but I'm guessing here.........
The SOUP NAZI is one of my favorite characters on Seinfeld, about this real strict restaurant owner who has real good soup but rigorous decorum about how to order your soup. I find it real funny.
The Soup Nazi's favorite saying is, "NO SOUP FOR YOU, if you don't play by his rules. You gotta-be a Seinfeld fan to enjoy it I suppose. Check it out in the links above. I find it hilarious.
