MICHAEL TROY is a singer who grew up in fall river. He's quite good. Much of his music is about the working man, some very sad. He has a folk sound to his tunes.
I post him here to bring attention to his CD WHISPER IN THE WIND, which has a picture of Lizzie Borden's 2nd Street home on the cover.
In it is a song he wrote called LIZZIE, about Lizzie Borden.

Michael Troy has a truly wonderful voice! It was a joy to hear him play his guitar and sing of Fall River.
At the intermission, I complimented him on his performance. But he said an odd thing to me. He said that when Lizzie died, she didn't want anyone to know where her grave was and it was the city of Fall River that erected the Borden monument. He pointed to the arrows on the road that direct visitors to the graves as part of the city's effort to cash in.
This is not true, of course, but it amazes me, really stuns me, how even people from Fall River don't know their Lizzie history! It seems like gossip or mythology rules here in ways you might think they would not---especially after all these years!
These folks haven't read a book about it, but know what they know from what people tell them, in some cases at least.
And those who have read the books, find Spiering and Brown to be their favorites! Of course, both books truly belong in the fiction section of the library!
