Well here in the NJ/NY area we got one helluva blizzard going on, just
coming down so fast and supposed to continue all through the night, it
is that wet heavy snow that is so good for making snowballs. we are
expected to get 2 feet or more. How is it further North in Mass? KatB I'm
egging you on for a report also from the sunshine state.

Poor Nancie!

Do you have plenty of bad-for-you snack foods in case the electricity goes out? Does poor Holly hate to go out in it? I have a miniature dachshund that refuses to go out when it snows....

I have a total of 6 dogs... 2 dachshunds and 4 springer spaniels... The large dogs like being outside-- but not in the cold and snow!

When we get a blizzard here...my three big dogs seem to like being out in the snow. Sometimes they will lay out in it till they have a little snow "blanket". Now these very same dogs like to come in the house and sleep on my bed too !

Well, I for one would love to get some snow here, although it rarely does, and when it does, just a little bit will shut the city down. You know us Southerners cant drive in the snow! It's great, you dont have to go to work or school. I have a Border Collie that hates to get her feet wet, and a mutt that loves to go out in rain, snow, mud, anything she can to get dirty!!!! My girls also sleep in my bed. Funny how us dog lovers let them get away with just about anything!

i asked Holly, the usual ritual, "holly want to go pee-
pee outside?" and as usual she got all hyper and
excited..but stopped dead in her excitement when she saw the snow and looked back at me with her tilted head and said "you want me to do what in this?" and she has
been cuddled on the couch since. She has amazing
"holding it in" capabilities (for a girl)

It started snowing here between 3:30 and 4:00 this afternoon and it's still not piling up too quickly. The forecast for our region is 24 to 30 inches by Sunday night.

I'm very lucky in that the northern part of Main Street in Fairhaven is a "state highway," so the plows have been out already with only a couple of inches fallen. They usually keep it down to the pavement. My house is at the corner of Main Street and a side street. The downside is our driveway is on the side street, a town street, which won't be plowed before tomorrow, if then. If we can get around the corner, though, it's a pretty clear shot across town to Route 6 where the supermarkets are.

I remember living in Cambridge and the time Thayne spent an hour shoveling the drive way and the plow came by and pushed all that snow into the end of the drive way and he got so mad that he yelled at the truck and threw the shovel at it's retreating form.

We are only supposed to get about 8-12 inches here by tomorrow morning. Its been snowing on and off since about 4am this morning. It's been pretty cold all day. The local grocery stores have been packed since they announced the blizzard, and I hate going to any of them unless its an absolute necessity.We recently received a bout of flooding all over the area and some of the roads collapsed, we had mudslides, it was a mess. Now we clean it all up in time for a blizzard.

It's 66 right now, will be 50 overnight and it rained which heralds our cold front.
Freeze watch for low-lying areas Sunday into Monday.

I heard on the weather that NJ was going to have a ThunderSnow. I saw it on the radar. Looks awful.

Where exactly are you located, if I may ask ? Are you near Nancie in the NJ/NY area...or somewhere nearby ? I have heard the NE is getting quite a storm front. We are now being inundated with fog.

I'm about 6 hours from the New Jersey border. I have two uncles who lived in New Jersey for most of their lives. I prefer not to say which state I am from really, because I've had a bad experience on the internet that makes me kind of uncomfortable with any specifics.

We've got about 8" so far, but more is expected overnight. That's when the winds are supposed to pick up to 20 to 30 mph. And the temperature is a balmy 7...the warmest it has been all day!

I have a strong sense of trust with most of the 'regulars' on this forum. I have no reason to believe they are not worthy of knowing where I live. I know that we had had some not so savory characters on the forum, but they are usually dispatched with very quickly. As others have said before me...this forum seems like family sometimes.

While I have no problem with the regulars on this forum, but this forum is open to all who want to look at it and read it. You only have to be a member to post am I right? And if you had had someone in the past who got your address from over the internet and threatened to show up where you live and even gave you directions to your own house, you might be a little uncomfortable with it as well.

I am always curious as to where people live. For instance, knowing that some forum members lived in Florida during the barrage of hurricanes last fall, I followed weather reports more carefully knowing I had 'friends' going through that nightmare. Or last spring during tornado season, it became more personal knowing there were friends from the forum facing that hell too. I guess I shouldn't worry so much. I truly apologize.

The local weather channel gave a total of 18 inches here in Fall River. I beg to differ. It was more like 24" with drifts of 3-4feet.

Yes Audrey, After 6 hours of back-breaking shoveling. Home Depot ran out of Sno-throwers 2 weeks ago. Why do I wait until the last minute to decide to buy what I need?

My yard looks just like what Mark A posted. Drifts four feet or more. Emily's swing set in the back yard is covered to about two steps from the top of the slide.

We stayed in all day today, but I shoveled the front walk after dinner so the newspaper can be delivered tomorrow. I haven't bothered with the car yet. The three of us did a short stroll around the house after I'd shoveled the front walk. It's Em's first "really big" snow. She wanted to make a snow angel, but we got her to wait until daytime tomorrow.

I doubt I'll have to go in to work tomorrow, but I will have to get groceries sometime.

Only about ten inches of new snow in our backyard in western Connecticut. While this afternoon (Sunday) featured a blue sky and bright sunshine it has been very cold with lots of wind and drifting snow.

We did not get as much snow as was predicted, and the city did a pretty good job of keeping the roads clear, but I still got a day off from school on Saturday

. Yeah I took a Saturday class, I must be nuts.The kids got the day off Friday, but that was a headache because they spent most of the day

.But my mom told me earlier on the phone they are predicting more snow. I don't like to watch the news much anymore, its so depressing.

. So I didn't see the weather report.

We dug out this morning and I got out to the grocery store, which was virtually empty. The main roads are in pretty good shape, but there's no place to park. Most side streets were plowed one plow-width down the middle. Four-lane Route 6 is only about 2 2/3 lanes wide.

Schools were closed throughout the day today and many towns, including Fairhaven, called of school for Tuesday as well.

I'll go in to work tomorrow, though I doubt many folks will be coming into the Visitors Center.

I dug out today too, my son has been without power
or heat since Sat, the ice storm took power lines out. They refuse to leave their new home, Tristy told me she is wearing 2 sweatsuits and has 5 blankets over her. Tough kids!

I have an uncanny ability to predict pregnancies. (Other than my own!)

The best example is:

When my neighbor's daughter got married and began having children I told her:

1st)-- Would be born at home.
2nd)-- Twins-- born at a hospital.
3rd)-- Normal delivery at hospital.

I am at 100%!

Didn't you tell me once it is meant to be a boy? Do they know for sure??
