...I waited with breathless anticipation for the network premiere of the TV movie The Legend Of Lizzie Bordenon ABC. After reading press releases about how authentic the production was going to be, I was terribly disappointed in the first two minutes of the movie! The outside of 92 Second Street bore absolutely no resemblence to the real thing. There were a few other disappointments, too (no Uncle John, for instance, and the killings in the nude), but overall it wasn't bad, for Hollywood.
Does anyone else remember watching that night? What were your first impressions?

I anticipated and watched the movie that night, too, and enjoyed it despite the variety of inaccuracies. I remember commenting about what looked like a hill or mountain showing behind the house in the film. About two weeks later while passing through Fall River on a trip to the Cape I stopped and visited 92 Second St. for the first time (the outside of the house, at least). I knocked on the side door of the house but no one answered; then I went to the door of the press building a few steps away from the side door. I believe the print shop was in operation then and the man who came to that door said no one was allowed to tour the house but I was welcome to look around the front and take whatever exterior pictures I wanted to. I did both and those snapshots are among my prized "Lizzie possessions" today!

i sure do remember anticipating and then seeing it. i thought it was great. i remember i had recently read the lincoln book. and the timing of the movie was one of those strange coincidences. the movie still holds up well.
yeah, i see the mountain behind the houses on second street......(just don't look at it).
i do like the interiors, especially. i've wondered why for some choices -- like a chest of drawers in the guest room instead of a dresser.
great beginning with the city hall clock face striking 11 and lizzie behind the screen door.
