Geesh! All I can say Eric is Un-Baa-Leav-A-BULLLLLL !!!!!
That copy of Porter (1893) was for sale last year on ebay. So this is the second time it has been up for bid in less than a year. See EBAY item # 7034775570 on MAY 30, 1906, It sold for 127.50 at that time and sale was being offered by KENCOGS and winning bid was the_e_ticket, who is selling it now.
Or Look under Forum: Second Street Second Hand Shop, UNDER, Do You Own An Original Porter? Page One, post by Yooper.

Yes Darthvader: It depends on which book you are talking about. If it's the FIRST edition of EDWIN PORTER'S , THE FALL RIVER TRAGEDY 1893, yes the price is all over the place. The reason is one of condition and/or just what the dealer wants to get for one.
The last one I saw sell on ebay was in very good condition, on the upper end of the condition scale, and sold for around $600. But the condition was as good as you are likely to find.
Checking the net you will find that there are 3 copies for sale. The cheapest is $850 and the others are $1000 and $1350. In this case much has to do with the dealer and what he feels is a fair market price. Very rarely will you see a dealer sell a copy for under $600 in any acceptable condition. Without looking at them and going by the dealer descriptions, I would say that the one for $1000, being described as "an exceptional copy in slipcase," is the best copy. But, that would be my guess as a collector. The copy for $1350 has been repaired, so it could have been in rough condition, while the one for $850 does not give a good description about condtion. Condition is everything to the collector putting down $600 plus.
First edition copies of Porter's book have sold on ebay for as little as $200+ to $600. The more expensive copies were in better condition. The last one sold for $600 and was one of the best copies I have seen. I can say that with assurance, since It was one of many I held in my hand.
Acquiring a copy for less than $600 in nice shape may be difficult.
Of course there is the reprint, 1985. One could be had for between $60 and $120, cheaper if on ebay.

Thank you Kat and mbhenty!
I am with 'mb' on this one. I have read portions online but am really looking for a first edition just to have, more than anything.
I ordered a 1985 copy this week via amazon.com and have yet to receive it. I paid $100.
Also I have been in contact with the seller that has the $1000 copy but I question if the book is worth that much. That book is in Texas.
So it sounds like they start at about $600 for a decent copy. I was outbid on that very book, my high bid was $500ish, I forget the exact number. I have also seen the very well worn $250ish examples, which I do not think I am after.
Thanks again for your answer!!
