Thanks for the reminder, Steve. May Emma rest in peace.

I don't know. I always thought Emma had something to do with the murders. She disliked Abby more than Lizzie. She testifies to it.
Emma was too quiet. I thought it was somewhat surprising to read her testimonies. She did not sound shy at all. And she was sharp. When Lizzie burned the dress, Emma said she told Lizzie, "Yes, why don't you?" or words to that effect.
It is downright weird that Emma died so shortly after Lizzie. Kat Koorey's Hatchet articles about Emma's life after 1905, after she left Maplecroft, were fabulous! She found the truth of Frank Spiering's very dramatic but total lies of his version of Emma's death.
I wonder if Emma hung on until Lizzie died, and when she got word of it she knew her promise to her mother was completed - she had taken care of Baby Lizzie. She did leave Lizzie, but I wonder if she did manage to keep track from afar on how her sister was doing, because of that promise.

Thanks for the kudos Sherry! I do feel an affinity for Emma Borden- a sort of expert on her, from all the research I did on her in 2005. That was recently rounded out by the new discovery of her school time away. It's funny that Len Rebello gave me 2 schools to choose from: one Holyoke, one Wheaton. He was on the ball!
I am an older sister myself, with 8 years between us. I do feel of a different generation. I also have always had an interest in our older relatives- kept in touch, visited, called. (I think that's now more an *old-fashioned* thing, sadly.)
Well, I must admit I missed this anniversary. Thanks for the respectful reminder- SteveS!
