Good article. Only heard of two of them, Lucas and Holmes.

It's hard to define the term "serial killer".

I would define the #1 killer, Woo Bum-kon, as a spree or rampage killer not a serial killer. Charles Starkweather was another such killer.

To be called a serial killer shouldn't there be time-gaps between killings not one continuous string of killings? The Zodiac or David Berkowitz, the Son of Sam are good examples.

BTW, I also enjoyed the article on the Hottest Student Bodies of 2009.

I think a "serial killer" is supposed to mean two or more murders, not depending on a time limit. I've read a scant few say that Lizzie Borden was a 'serial killer', but I think that is taking the label too extremely. She never killed again, even tho she did (or may have) killed two.

I would think "serial killer" means they keep doing it and it's in them not to stop. Like Jeffrey Dahmer or Henry Lee Lucas.

I am afraid the list is missing the absolute freakiest serial killer to ever walk the face of this planet. Richard Chase, the Vampire killer of Sacremento. Far be it from me to describe his monstrous depradations in this post, I haven't thought about him in a long time and would rather not now. For those of you not familiar with him even a with a quick google you will see what I mean. He is the classic example of the "disorganized" serial killer and deserves to be number 1 on this particular list....

Here is an interesting and down right creepy guy... Rodney Alcala is a convicted serial killer who had appeared on 'The Dating Game', in 1978, and WON!!! At the time he appeared on 'The Dating Game' he had already been convicted for the 1968 rape of an 8-year-old girl.

For more details, here's trutv's description of the case:

A man ... wants to give his wife ... the interest in a little homestead where her sister lives. How wicked to have found fault with it. How petty to have found fault with it. (Hosea Knowlton in his closing argument.)
