Turkey and Wine

Post by Audrey »

Of course you all do know to serve red wine with turkey?

Forget the white wine with white meats and red wine with red meats rules for turkey....

Think of it this way... A fruity, not overly sweet red wine compliments turkey the same way cranberry sauce does.

OK...I am wine-challenged. I have heard about red wine-red meat...and white wine-white meat, but I would order White Zin with whatever I ate if I had the choice, just because I like White Zin. I have heard it comes from the "not great" grapes, but I still like it. Besides, it's pink ! Is there any hope for me ???

Oh, I used to love to drink White Zinfandel too, but was frowned upon by the wine drinkers I know. They called it the "P*ss of Wines". I've tried to educate my palate to enjoy the other wines out there, but the ones that have nitrates (or is it nitrites) gives me a headache as I am drinking them. Give me champagne any ol' day, I guess its the French in me.

Champagne? Mais Oui!

I do love to make champagne cakes for people.
It takes such a little for the cake.... And there you are with an open bottle!

But what a way to become ill!

I went to Sam's Club today and got some Dom Perignon for a great price-- we have one each year for Thanksgiving! It is such a wonderful treat!

Audrey, can you make some recommendations for a few different reds to go with the bird?

Any red Bordeaux would be nice...

Room temperature....

You can also go with a Cabernet Sauvignon or a Burgundy.

Anyone should be able to find a decent priced (about $10) bottle of a Margaux Bordeaux at a near bye liquor store!
