There is something visceral about the original "King Kong" that still gets to me.

For one, there is no "love affair" between Ann and The Ape, as in the remakes. What idotic BS! Yes, he's in love with her, but it's unrequited. He's a thing of horror. The Beast.

Anyway, I get scared when I hear the opening strains of music over the credits, and remain so. What a terrific score by Max Steiner, who also managed the superlative scores for GWTW and "Now, Voyager," among dozens of other films.

Well, I'm going to have to go with The Good Son (1993), starring Macaulay Culkin, Elijah Wood, and Wendy Crewson. The unexpected ending still leaves me with my mouth hanging open!

I usually like anything by Stephen King. Salem's Lot was also very frightening to me.

OMG!

That IS the scariest movie ever!
I have had nightmares about Kong my whole life!
Even the scene in Jurassic Park where the puddle of water ripples letting them know a huge monster is coming scares me because of Kong!

I actually had to do some self-administered immersion-therapy to get over him. They had a Kong ride here at Universal, or some such place, and his visage was on a huge billboard that I drove by to go to work everyday on the Interstate. At first I would look away- then I decided to face my fears- and also watch all of the commercials selling the ride on TV as well- and finally just in the last few years I have overcome the horror!

I still have "Kong" nightmares, too! Nevertheless, I continue to watch it in an attempt to face down my fears.
Yes, that "glass of water" scene was the best thing in all those "Jurassic Park" movies. And, as usual, the first movie was the best. I was actually rooting for Julianne Moore's character to bite it-- so to speak-- in the second one. How idiotic-- carrying that dadgum blood-stained T-shirt around, as if the mother wouldn't track it. I laughed when the tent was upended.

Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds is still difficult for me to watch. I first saw it when I was about 8 years old. My mother always let me stay up late and watch t.v. with her. The next day we went to pick someone up near the beach and I felt like throwing up everytime I saw gulls circling overhead. We also had a fireplace in our house and I kept thinking I could hear birds ready to swarm in and attack. That movie still makes me lose sleep so I don't think I'll ever watch it again if I can avoid it.

Yes-- I saw it when I was about 10, on TV. One never forgets that scene in which Jessica Tandy discovers the pecked-out man. Definitely not a film for children.
