Burial:
Brookside Cemetery
Englewood
Bergen County
New Jersey, USA

You can find her, and the members of the Borden household including Bridget. Except Emma, for some reason her grave is not listed. You can leave virtual flowers for them also, but cannot leave them for Lizzie because it said this feature was being misused so it was turned off for her. Kind of creepy but...

Thats odd when I do a search for her, her name still does not show up.
Your search returned no names...
If you get this error often, try using less specific search criteria.
For Example, if you are searching for Lucille Ball,
Just type 'L' for first name and 'B' for last name...
This search form only searches our famous database.

But when I click on the link you provided there it is. So she is obviously there. Thanks very much Audrey, I bookmarked it.

Sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but I am quite skeptical that Nance is buried in Englewood at this cemetery that's posted on Find a Grave. I have been researching Nance for about two years and have contacted Englewood and was told she was not there. There is no photo of her grave on the Find a Grave site - only photos of her and the cemetery sign.
I emailed the person who created the file on there. It is possible that I was given the wrong information by accident.
I'll also contact the cemetery. And keep y'all posted.

Does anyone here think Lizzie and Nance would have had a sexual affair? And thats why Emma was estranged to the sister she had cared for so deeply?

Personally, I've never thought that Lizzie's sexuality had much to do with the crime.
But since you are asking could it have led to an estrangement between the sisters in 1905, I guess it could, if there was anything going on in that direction. But Emma was almost from a different generation from Lizzie- the 8 to 9 year difference can cause a huge gap, which can possibly get larger as time goes by.
Sometimes, of course, the gap can lessen as people age.
I think Emma and Lizzie were very different, and that is why Emma left.
What do you think?

Well I do not believe that they ever were lovers.I think they were just friends and nothing more. I do not know about the whole generation gap thing, my husband is 9 years older than I am.I was 21 when we met, and he was 30. It's never really caused us to see things that much differently. But then again we are living in different times. But, if they were lovers, I would have to agree that it might cause poor Emma to be so shocked by the whole affair she might move out.

Emma was said to have been like a mother to Lizzie. In most cases it would take a lot for a mother to leave her child and never speak to or see them again.....
As for the lesbianism... I think Lizzie probably was a lesbian.
Like Kat, I do not think this had any part in the murders and I would like to think that if Emma did discover Lizzie and another woman " flagrante delicto" that she would have at the very least maintained correspondance with Lizzie if she couldn't have remained living with her.

That is certainly true. My interest has only gotten stronger. My frustration has grown also, because I know the case will never be solved. It will always remain a mystery.Wade @ Tue Feb 01, 2005 1:31 pm wrote:our interest just does not wane. judging from the posters here, same applies. :)
